Cabs and car rental in Visakhapatnam, with a driver.

Visakhapatnam, Vizag to almost everyone, is pressed between the Bay of Bengal and the last hills of the Eastern Ghats, and that shape decides every drive out of it. North from RK Beach, the Beach Road passes the INS Kursura submarine museum, the TU-142 aircraft museum, Kailasagiri and Rushikonda on its way to Bheemili, with the sea on your right. South of the port, the road climbs past Dolphin's Nose to Yarada Beach. Inland, Simhachalam sits on its hill on the north-west side of the city, and the Araku road starts gaining height not long after Anandapuram. NH-16 runs through all of it, past NAD Junction and the Steel Plant belt around Gajuwaka, and on north to the new airport at Bhogapuram, and those stretches are worth knowing about before you fix a departure time.

The Araku run is about 115 km and takes around three and a half hours, because it is a ghat drive rather than a highway drive. The road climbs through Ananthagiri in long series of bends, passes the Borra Caves turn-off and reaches the Galikonda viewpoint before the valley opens up. Going the other way, NH-16 south is the long coastal road: about 350 km and six and a half hours to Vijayawada, and about 620 km and eleven hours to Hyderabad, usually split over two days. The Satyanarayana Swamy temple at Annavaram sits close to that highway if you want a stop on the way.

Sneha Go Cabs is based in Hyderabad and covers all of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. For a Vizag trip, send your pickup point, dates, group size and plan on WhatsApp, and we confirm the car and the fare before you travel. A 30% advance by Razorpay confirms the booking, and the balance is paid after the trip.

Local tip — Start the Araku climb early. The bends are at their easiest in the first half of the morning, and you want to be off the ghat before dark. Carry a light jacket even in April, because the valley sits high enough to turn cool once the sun drops. Borra Caves falls on the same road, so decide before you leave whether you are stopping on the way up or the way down. On the coast, the Beach Road towards Bheemili is a slow road with a lot to stop for: Kailasagiri, Rushikonda and the Buddhist site at Thotlakonda all sit along it, so give it a full afternoon. Anything routed through Gajuwaka or NAD Junction needs extra time around Steel Plant and port traffic. Simhachalam is easier early in the day, and the crowds are at their largest around Chandanotsavam, when the sandal paste covering the deity is removed for the year. In monsoon, expect the ghat surface to be slick and the waterfalls to be running hard.

What kind of trip in Visakhapatnam?

Local runs around Visakhapatnam, an airport pickup, a temple trip or a long outstation drive — same fleet, same drivers, quoted differently. Tell us which on WhatsApp and the fare comes back the same day.

Local hire in Visakhapatnam

8 hours and 80 km around the city. The driver stays with you rather than dropping and leaving.

  • Vizag Airport (Bhogapuram), either direction

Since August 2026 Vizag's flights use the new airport at Bhogapuram, about 45 km north of the city on NH-16. That is closest from Madhurawada and furthest from Gajuwaka, so plan the start from your boarding time and send the flight number when you book.

  • Simhachalam darshan

The Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple stands on its hill on the north-west side of the city. Go early, and allow for much larger crowds around Chandanotsavam.

  • The Beach Road to Bheemili

North from RK Beach past the submarine museum, Kailasagiri, Rushikonda and the Thotlakonda Buddhist site. The stops are spread along the coast, so having one car wait at each makes a full and easy day.

  • Dolphin's Nose and Yarada

The headland south of the port and the quiet beach beyond it. It is a short drive with a winding road at the end, and a good half day away from the Beach Road crowds.

  • Araku and back

About 115 km and three and a half hours each way up the Ananthagiri ghat, with Borra Caves on the same road. It makes for a long day, so start early and come down in daylight.

What the fare includes

One fare, agreed first

You get one figure on WhatsApp before you travel — the kilometres at your car's rate, plus tolls, state tax and the driver allowance at what they actually cost. There is no meter running in Visakhapatnam traffic, and nothing appears at the end that you had not already agreed.

Straight to the team

One number reaches the people running the trip — no app to install and no account to create.

Renting a car in Visakhapatnam with a driver

Every car on this page comes with an experienced local driver. We do not do self-drive, and most of what that removes is paperwork — there is no driving licence to hand over and no car to bring back by a deadline. The per-km rate already carries the car & fuel, a professional driver. You pay for the kilometres, on the terms confirmed with your fare.

It changes the day as much as the paperwork. The driver stays with the car while you are inside, so nobody is circling Visakhapatnam for parking or moving the car every hour. On a long run he has driven the road before — which counts for most on the stretches where you would otherwise be navigating and driving at the same time.

Cabs and car rental in Visakhapatnam — FAQs

How long is the drive from Visakhapatnam to Araku?

About 115 km and three and a half hours each way in normal conditions. The distance is modest but almost all of it is ghat road, with a long run of bends through Ananthagiri, so it should not be rushed. Leave early, spend the day in the valley, and come down while there is still light.

Can we stop at Borra Caves on the way to Araku?

Yes. The turn-off is on the same road, so it fits either on the way up or on the way down, and deciding before you leave changes how you pace the rest of the day. Inside, the caves are cool, damp and uneven underfoot, so wear shoes with some grip.

Where in Visakhapatnam can you pick us up?

Vizag Airport at Bhogapuram, Visakhapatnam Railway Station, RK Beach, MVP Colony and Gajuwaka are the listed points, and the car can come to a hotel or a house in the city. Pick whichever is nearest to where you are staying rather than whichever landmark is best known.

Which coastal drives are worth doing from Vizag?

The Beach Road north past Kailasagiri and Rushikonda to Bheemili is the classic, and it is a stop-when-you-like drive rather than a fast one. Yarada, south past Dolphin's Nose, is the quieter option. With a full day or more, NH-16 south runs on towards Rajahmundry and the Godavari.

Is Simhachalam a good half-day from the city?

Yes. The Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha temple stands on a hill on the north-west side of Vizag, close enough for a morning visit with the rest of the day free. Go early, and tell us when you book if the date falls near Chandanotsavam, because the crowds are much larger then.

Is there a cab near me in Visakhapatnam?

You do not need one nearby — the car comes to you. We are not a stand you walk to or a street taxi you flag down: you send an address on WhatsApp and the driver arrives there, anywhere in Visakhapatnam — including Gajuwaka, MVP Colony, Dwaraka Nagar and the areas around them. The useful thing to send is a landmark rather than a pin: the gate, the shop below, the temple on the corner. That is how the driver actually finds you, and it is faster than a map reference on a lane that has no name.

How do I tell you where to pick me up in Visakhapatnam?

A landmark and a phone number is enough. Vizag Airport (Bhogapuram), Visakhapatnam Railway Station, RK Beach and similar spots are the ones drivers know without asking — but a home address works the same way. If the lane is narrow or the gate is hard to spot, say so when you book and the driver will call as he turns in rather than leaving you to find the car.

Is this a cab service, a taxi, car rental, or car hire?

All of those names describe what we do, and around here the everyday one is "car travels" — it is what most operators in Visakhapatnam are actually called, and what people say when they mean a car with a driver rather than a self-drive rental. Listings and search results tend to say taxi, car rental or car hire. The important part is what it is not — it is not self-drive, and it is not a metered street taxi. Every car comes with an experienced local driver, so you are hiring the car and the person driving it together, for one fare agreed before the trip rather than a meter that keeps running in traffic.
