Cabs and car rental in Araku Valley, with a driver.
Araku sits high in the Eastern Ghats, close to 900 metres up in the Alluri Sitharama Raju district, and the altitude is the whole point. Mornings arrive with mist in the folds of the hills, the air stays cool even when the coast below is baking, and the slopes are planted with Arabica coffee grown largely by tribal farmers and their cooperatives. Inside the valley the distances are small but the roads are slow and narrow, winding between hamlets, terraces and forest.
There are two ways up. The train from Vizag runs through dozens of tunnels and over many bridges on the line towards Kirandul, and sets you down at Araku Railway Station. Or you come by road up the Ananthagiri ghat, about 115 km and three and a half hours from Visakhapatnam, climbing in long series of bends past the Borra Caves turn-off and the Galikonda viewpoint. Plenty of travellers do one of each, train up and car back down. Hyderabad is much further, about 790 km and thirteen to fourteen hours, so it is normally a trip of several days through Vijayawada and Vizag.
Once you are in the valley, the Chaparai cascade, Padmapuram Gardens, the Tribal Museum and the coffee slopes make an easy full day, and Borra Caves fits neatly onto the way out. Sneha Go Cabs is based in Hyderabad and serves Araku as part of its Andhra Pradesh and Telangana coverage. Tell us on WhatsApp where you are arriving, your dates and what you want to see, and we will confirm the car and the fare. A 30% advance by Razorpay confirms the booking, and the balance is paid after the trip.
Local tip — Bring a jacket whatever the month. Araku is high enough that mornings and evenings turn cold quickly, and in winter the mist can sit in the valley until mid-morning. If the coffee slopes are the reason you came, go out early, when the light is low and the hills are still wet. The ghat road down to Vizag is a long series of bends, so plan the descent for daylight and do not push to catch a train or a flight. In monsoon the surface gets slippery and the waterfalls run hard: Chaparai and the Katiki falls near Borra are at their fullest then, but the walking is muddy. Borra Caves are cool and damp inside with uneven steps, so proper shoes help. Weekends and holidays fill the valley's few roads quickly, and a weekday visit is a quieter place altogether. Mobile signal thins out once you leave the main road, so agree the day's plan with your driver before you set off.
What kind of trip in Araku Valley?
Local runs around Araku Valley, an airport pickup, a temple trip or a long outstation drive — same fleet, same drivers, quoted differently. Tell us which on WhatsApp and the fare comes back the same day.
Local hire in Araku Valley
8 hours and 80 km around the city. The driver stays with you rather than dropping and leaving.
Borra Caves and back
The limestone caves sit below Araku on the Vizag road, so most people take them on the way up or the way down rather than as a separate trip. The car waits at the top while you go through — the walk out is uphill and nobody wants to do it twice looking for a ride.
Coffee slopes and the Tribal Museum
Araku is working coffee country, and the museum in town explains what the terraces around you actually produce. Both sit close together, which is exactly why a car helps: valley roads are narrow and slow, so the distance on the map and the time on the clock are different numbers.
Chaparai and Padmapuram
The water cascade and the gardens fill a day between them without any of it being far. We keep the pace loose — over-planning an Araku day is the usual mistake, and the roads here do not reward hurrying.
The ghat viewpoints, unhurried
Galikonda and the bends above Ananthagiri are the reason to come by road at all. On a clear winter morning the cloud sits below the road rather than above it, and having a driver means you can stop for that instead of watching for the next hairpin.
Down to Visakhapatnam
About 115 km and three and a half hours, nearly all of it hairpins — it is not the afternoon errand the distance suggests. We prefer to run it in daylight, and an early start beats a late one every time.

What the fare includes
One fare, agreed first
You get one figure on WhatsApp before you travel — the kilometres at your car's rate, plus tolls, state tax and the driver allowance at what they actually cost. There is no meter running in Araku Valley traffic, and nothing appears at the end that you had not already agreed.
Straight to the team
One number reaches the people running the trip — no app to install and no account to create.
Renting a car in Araku Valley with a driver
Every car on this page comes with an experienced local driver. We do not do self-drive, and most of what that removes is paperwork — there is no driving licence to hand over and no car to bring back by a deadline. The per-km rate already carries the car & fuel, a professional driver. You pay for the kilometres, on the terms confirmed with your fare.
It changes the day as much as the paperwork. The driver stays with the car while you are inside, so nobody is circling Araku Valley for parking or moving the car every hour. On a long run he has driven the road before — which counts for most on the stretches where you would otherwise be navigating and driving at the same time.

Cabs and car rental in Araku Valley — FAQs
Can you drive us down to Vizag after we take the train up?
Yes, and it is a good way to do this trip. You get the rail journey through the tunnels on the way up and a private car for the descent, with stops at the viewpoints and Borra Caves. Give us your train arrival time when you book, for a pickup at Araku Railway Station.
How do we fit Borra Caves into the trip?
The caves sit on the road between Araku and Vizag, so they slot naturally into whichever leg you are driving. Inside it is cool, damp and uneven underfoot, so wear proper shoes. In monsoon the Katiki falls nearby are another stop to consider, though the path can be rough.
When is the best time to visit Araku Valley?
November to February is the clearest and coolest, with mist in the mornings and long views from the ghat road. Monsoon is beautiful in a different way, with the waterfalls running hard, but the bends get slippery and the walking gets muddy. Even in summer the valley stays milder than the coast.
Where in the valley can you pick us up?
Araku Railway Station, the Araku bus stand and the Tribal Museum are the listed points, and a guest house inside the valley works too. Tell us your arrival point when you book. Signal thins out on the smaller roads, so it helps to fix the day's route before you set off.
Is there a cab near me in Araku Valley?
You do not need one nearby — the car comes to you. We are not a stand you walk to or a street taxi you flag down: you send an address on WhatsApp and the driver arrives there, anywhere in Araku Valley. The useful thing to send is a landmark rather than a pin: the gate, the shop below, the temple on the corner. That is how the driver actually finds you, and it is faster than a map reference on a lane that has no name.
How do I tell you where to pick me up in Araku Valley?
A landmark and a phone number is enough. Araku Bus Stand, Araku Railway Station, Tribal Museum and similar spots are the ones drivers know without asking — but a home address works the same way. If the lane is narrow or the gate is hard to spot, say so when you book and the driver will call as he turns in rather than leaving you to find the car.
Is this a cab service, a taxi, car rental, or car hire?
All of those names describe what we do, and around here the everyday one is "car travels" — it is what most operators in Araku Valley are actually called, and what people say when they mean a car with a driver rather than a self-drive rental. Listings and search results tend to say taxi, car rental or car hire. The important part is what it is not — it is not self-drive, and it is not a metered street taxi. Every car comes with an experienced local driver, so you are hiring the car and the person driving it together, for one fare agreed before the trip rather than a meter that keeps running in traffic.
