Cabs and car rental in Tirupati, with a driver.

Everything in Tirupati is arranged around one climb. The town sits at the foot of the Seshachalam hills, and the temple of Lord Venkateswara is up at Tirumala on a ghat road of around twenty kilometres. Separate roads carry traffic up and down, every vehicle goes through the check at Alipiri, and the climb is a long run of bends with a speed limit and no overtaking. A darshan slot has to be planned backwards from all of that rather than forwards from your hotel.

Below the hill, there are three main arrival points. Tirupati Airport is at Renigunta, east of town. Tirupati Railway Station is central, with the Govindaraja Swamy temple close by. Alipiri is where walking pilgrims start up the Alipiri Mettu steps, while the shorter Srivari Mettu path begins near Srinivasa Mangapuram, on the other side of town. Kapila Theertham, the waterfall and temple at the foot of the hill, is close to Alipiri and easy to add.

The temple circuit around the town is why many trips here are longer than one day. Tiruchanoor, with the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple, is the customary stop after Tirumala. Sri Kalahasti, on the Swarnamukhi river to the east, is the Vayu linga among the five elemental Shiva temples. Kanipakam, with its Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple, and the Vijayanagara fort and palace at Chandragiri lie on the Chittoor side, and the Talakona falls are inside Sri Venkateswara National Park.

The long roads run about 560 km and nine hours to Hyderabad, and about 385 km to Vijayawada. Sneha Go Cabs is based in Hyderabad and serves Tirupati as part of its Andhra Pradesh and Telangana coverage. Send your darshan slot and arrival details on WhatsApp and we will confirm the car and the fare. A 30% advance by Razorpay confirms the booking, and the balance is paid after the trip.

Local tip — Work backwards from your darshan slot, not forwards from breakfast. The Alipiri check takes time, the climb takes time, and getting from the Tirumala parking area to the queue complex takes time on top of that. Carry photo ID for everyone in the group, and check the current TTD rules before you travel, since slots and timings change. Keep a small bag for footwear and prasadam so you are not hauling a suitcase around. If anyone plans to walk up, Srivari Mettu is much shorter than the Alipiri steps. Mention elders or wheelchair needs while booking so the right vehicle comes. Brahmotsavam, usually in September or October, and Vaikunta Ekadasi bring very large crowds to Tirumala, so allow more time for everything in those weeks. If Sri Kalahasti or Kanipakam is on the list, say so at the start so the days can be sequenced without doubling back. Akasa Ganga, Papavinasanam and the Silathoranam rock arch are at Tirumala itself, if you have time after darshan.

What kind of trip in Tirupati?

Local runs around Tirupati, an airport pickup, a temple trip or a long outstation drive — same fleet, same drivers, quoted differently. Tell us which on WhatsApp and the fare comes back the same day.

Local hire in Tirupati

8 hours and 80 km around the city. The driver stays with you rather than dropping and leaving.

  • Tirumala and back

Up the ghat road through the Alipiri check to the Sri Venkateswara temple, with separate roads for the climb and the descent. Tell us your darshan slot and the start time is worked out backwards from it.

  • Tirupati Airport, either direction

The airport is at Renigunta, east of town, and roughly 39 km from Tirumala. Send the flight number when you book, and say whether you are going to a hotel first or straight up the hill.

  • Tiruchanoor after Tirumala

The Sri Padmavathi Ammavari temple is a short hop from Tirupati and the customary stop after coming down from the hill. Keeping the same car saves arranging a new ride at the end of a long day.

  • Sri Kalahasti

The Shiva temple on the Swarnamukhi river, east of Tirupati, and one of the five elemental lingas. It pairs easily with Tiruchanoor or an airport run, since both lie on the same side of town.

  • Kanipakam and Chandragiri

The Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple and the Vijayanagara fort and palace both lie on the Chittoor side. Chandragiri comes first on that road, so the two work together as a day out without doubling back.

CarSeatsPer km
Sedan4+1₹12/km
Compact6+1₹14/km

What the fare includes

One fare, agreed first

You get one figure on WhatsApp before you travel — the kilometres at your car's rate, plus tolls, state tax and the driver allowance at what they actually cost. There is no meter running in Tirupati traffic, and nothing appears at the end that you had not already agreed.

Straight to the team

One number reaches the people running the trip — no app to install and no account to create.

Renting a car in Tirupati with a driver

Every car on this page comes with an experienced local driver. We do not do self-drive, and most of what that removes is paperwork — there is no driving licence to hand over and no car to bring back by a deadline. The per-km rate already carries the car & fuel, a professional driver. You pay for the kilometres, on the terms confirmed with your fare.

It changes the day as much as the paperwork. The driver stays with the car while you are inside, so nobody is circling Tirupati for parking or moving the car every hour. On a long run he has driven the road before — which counts for most on the stretches where you would otherwise be navigating and driving at the same time.

Cabs and car rental in Tirupati — FAQs

How does the ghat road up to Tirumala work?

There are separate roads for going up and coming down, so traffic does not meet head-on. Every vehicle goes through the check at Alipiri, the whole climb is bends with a speed limit, and the queue at the check is the part most people forget to budget for.

Can you pick us up from Tirupati Airport at Renigunta?

Yes. The airport is at Renigunta, east of the city, and Tirupati Railway Station and Alipiri are also listed pickups. Share your flight or train timing and where you are staying when you book, so the pickup can be arranged around it.

Some of us want to walk up. Can the car meet us at the top?

Yes, tell us while booking. The walkers take Alipiri Mettu or the shorter Srivari Mettu near Srinivasa Mangapuram, and the car carries the luggage and anyone not walking up the ghat road, then meets the group at Tirumala.

What else is worth adding around Tirupati?

Tiruchanoor is the customary stop after Tirumala darshan and takes very little time. Sri Kalahasti is a comfortable drive east and pairs naturally with a Tirupati trip. With a spare day, Kanipakam, Chandragiri Fort and the Talakona falls are all reachable and reward an early start.

Is there a cab near me in Tirupati?

You do not need one nearby — the car comes to you. We are not a stand you walk to or a street taxi you flag down: you send an address on WhatsApp and the driver arrives there, anywhere in Tirupati — including Alipiri, Renigunta, Tiruchanoor and the areas around them. The useful thing to send is a landmark rather than a pin: the gate, the shop below, the temple on the corner. That is how the driver actually finds you, and it is faster than a map reference on a lane that has no name.

How do I tell you where to pick me up in Tirupati?

A landmark and a phone number is enough. Tirupati Airport (Renigunta), Tirupati Railway Station, Alipiri (ghat foot) and similar spots are the ones drivers know without asking — but a home address works the same way. If the lane is narrow or the gate is hard to spot, say so when you book and the driver will call as he turns in rather than leaving you to find the car.

Is this a cab service, a taxi, car rental, or car hire?

All of those names describe what we do, and around here the everyday one is "car travels" — it is what most operators in Tirupati are actually called, and what people say when they mean a car with a driver rather than a self-drive rental. Listings and search results tend to say taxi, car rental or car hire. The important part is what it is not — it is not self-drive, and it is not a metered street taxi. Every car comes with an experienced local driver, so you are hiring the car and the person driving it together, for one fare agreed before the trip rather than a meter that keeps running in traffic.
